Something I find interesting about the Lizard League is that these guys are supervillain supervillains, costumed in the classic mold- Salamander with the impossibly-skintight patterned-cloth costume, Iguana with the tight-tights-and-animal-headpiece combo, Komodo with that 70s-style strongman cowl-and-jersey, King Lizard with the Baron Strucker-style double-breasted greatcoat. These guys are unrepentant in their design. And in the comics, where the Sequid arc didn't happen till around issue 40, these guys were part of this established stable of villains who'd show up as fodder for montages and one-off fights where they needed to have a hero beating up someone who's clearly a supervillain, never mind who. That meant that their eventual escalation to nuclear terrorism after 30+ issues of low-rent stuff, and the ensuing clusterfuck, actually parsed as a meaningful escalation from the established status quo. These guys are breaking the rules. Supervillains do stuff like this sometimes, sure, but not this kind of supervillain- these guys are doing MCU-style unmarked-Kevlar terroristic supervillainy when they should be doing lizard-themed gimmick crimes or Super-friends stuff!

Well, no, that's not quite true. It feels true, but honestly there are plenty of examples of campy big-two villains doing flat-out nuclear terrorism pretty early on, actually. Just to pick some examples from X-Men, Magento did it in his first appearance, and the ANAD lineup's first real outing was to stop Count Nefaria from hijacking NORAD. Screwing around with the military's world-ending shit is downright commonplace for supervillains, once you start tallying it up. But between the goofy kid-gloves approach of a lot of early silver-age comics and the sheer volume of Stuff that's happened in the Marvel and DC continuities, the impact of attempted nuclear terrorism inevitably gets sanded down, it just becomes one more data point in the endless ebb and flow- hell, it can result in actual nuclear detonations, and eventually it's going to get sanded over. In the nineties, Vandal Savage actually nuked Montevideo using depreciated USSR stock. Is that salient, these days? This event that would have reshaped geopolitics had it happened in our world? So yeah, supervillains make a run on the nukes all the time- but it doesn't count if you do it in a onesie with your initials stenciled on it.

But Invincible, as a self-contained continuity, actually has the ability to maintain perspective and appropriately weigh a grab at the nuclear arsenal - it's very much not business as usual, it's not part of the typical cops-and-robbers runaround. It's not stealing a priceless diamond, it's not a bank job, it's not even rampaging through the city center with a giant robot. It's a credible attempt to end the world, it's a challenge to government power that they won't let stand, costumes or no. It's the government sponsored super team coming in guns blazing trying their damnedest to kill you from the word go, and its you trying to kill them equally hard because there's really no coming back from this if you lose. And it ends up that treating this situation with a commonsense level of gravity acts as a deconstructive backhand against every similar situation in the comics that ends with the villain shaking their fist and escaping at the last minute.

I've been in kaiju/Godzilla spaces for a decent amount of time, so much to the point I primarily associated I Am Become Death to goofy gifs of Godzilla doing the flying dropkick.

So imagine how I felt when I saw Oppenehimer and had to fight back a laugh because the moment that line was spoken, all I could think of was -

Which side character in storm hawks do you think deserves a stand alone episode?

While I’m absolutely fascinated by the Colonel as a character, as well as what life is like for the ‘average’ Cyclonian, I’d have to say I’d most want to see a standalone episode on Repton and his Raptors.

We don’t get told anything about their culture except they eat any prey, including humanoids. Often described as cannibals, how did a seemingly primitive reptilian society manage to subdue and enslave the much more intelligent Terradons into doing their bidding? Is there another species of apex predator that preyed upon the residents of Bogaton, requiring an alliance until the creation of the Bogaton defence system? Also, what about their social dynamics? Reptiles hardly have any variations between male and females of the species save for size and occasionally some colour difference. Is the gender ratio of Raptors 50/50? Or are females rarer? Repton seems to hold his mother in high regard, enough to keep him from killing off his nest-siblings (I’m guessing they’re from the same clutch) because he promised her not to. Is this standard for Raptor society? Do the females focus on the architecture/farming/cooking while the males are sent out to scavenge or hunt? Do they hold males in high regard? Or are females considered the most respected? What traits do Raptors as a species look for in a mate?

On a different tangent, why did Repton ally Bogaton with Cyclonia when their air defense mechanism is considered so incredible, especially when this happened before the Terradons ran for it? Did he respect Cyclonia for having a powerful elder female ruling them? Or has his Raptors efforts at raiding nearby terras like Mesa been repelled so often that the Raptors could be facing a famine? Do Raptors truly commit cannibalism by eating their own species or do they hold some respect for their own kind, exclusively eating other humanoids?

There’s just so much I’d love to know more about them, it would also set a standard for just how weird other cultures or species on Atmos could be.

Me when I have Rain World brain rot but I use (custom) Rayman skins for gameplay and I have baby Minimus in one game and baby Rayman and Globox in another.

So the answer is more Ray World art lol.

Also, I want this to be my response to people asking, "Can you draw anything other than teensies?" Like, yeah, I can *sweats while drawing slugcat teensies instead*

Minimus is a tough leader and hunter on the surface, but in reality, he's just a cuddlebug friend who is unaware of many things and forgets boundaries on occasion.

Goth is a young, skinny, small, malnourished scug who's body physically can't withstand a lot of pressure (thanks dying and Rubicon), so this is very painful for him. However, he does like the physical contact, so he keeps his pain squeaks to a minimum (usually to his detriment).

He'll... probably be fine, I'm sure. He'll just respawn next cycle no biggie.

Vast Avatar concept who just picks up east coasters or europeans from the Kansas City airport and drives them to Denver without leaving I70.

It's almost a perfect straight drive west.

Once you get past Salina or Hays there's that dawning horror that it's so flat you can watch your dog run away for a week. Yeah, you'll start to see the mountains when you get closer to the state line but at that point how are you certain those are real? Maybe the car turns around in Goodland and you're back driving east on I70.
